Let the altitude do its work, and bring on the alcohol! Bogota's rumba (partying) is pretty serious. Things heat up at around midnight and go until 3:00am. If the spirit moves you, you can generally find after hours places or a house party to carry your shenanigans into the next morning. Of course you can't bring bottles into bars, but you can buy bottles there and then take them with you if there's anything left over. Know that only the finest establishments are able to make a wide range of drinks and cocktails. It's usually better to order something off of the menu, or keep it simple with a rum and coke or a whiskey on the rocks.
New indie bar in a kitsch deco, El Coq is a great place for people watching and dancing. You probably won't notice all the young popular Colombian jet-set, but seems like they made this bar their new hang out. There's a 20.000 peso cover on weekends, and the party starts around midnight.

Deliciously dangerous martinis and a great view of the T (people-watching). Great selection of liquors. Small but well-done food menu. We enjoy the smoked salmon with potato pancakes and the veggie burger. Can be hard to find a table outside after 5:30, but there is a spacious downstairs.

Party to your favorite hits from the 80s and 90s. And don't worry, there are plasma TVs that also show the music videos. Full 80s is FUN. It's not 80s chic or trendy or exclusive, and it's not trying to be better than it is. Great place for a group.

In the heart of the very popular "Zona T" (think: people watching), it's still a very affordable place to go, and most of the time has a table available for you.

Huge patio with a great view of the T (perfect for people-watching). Lots of foreigners and one of the few places you can find in Guinness in Bogota. Good bar food. Great place for day drinking, but be ready to line up if you show up late on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Feeling homesick for a good basketball game? Just show up and ask them for the remote control for one of many TVs they have, order some delicious chicken wings and you are set!
